Emilio Vedova in Mexico, 1980


In 1980 Emilio Vedova completed the series Frammenti/Scheggia he had commenced in 1978.
He is invited by UNAM (National Autonomous University of Mexico) to put on a retrospective of graphic works at Mexico City’s Carrillo Gil Museum and to deliver a series of lectures on his work. he makes a study tour of the country (September/November): visits Teotihuacan, Oaxaca, Mitla, Guanajuato, Guadalajara, crosses Yucatán by car and visits the Maya ruins. The Mexican influence will be felt in his passage from the black & white of the Plurimi binari to the colour of the great teleri of the 1980s, and the quadriptychs (the cycles Compresenze, Recording '81, …als ob…, Supporti transitori '82, Emerging '82, Da dove '83, Rossi, Di umano… '84/ 85).
