In 1952 Vedova joins the Gruppo degli Otto, organised by the critic Lionello Venturi following the break-up of the Fronte Nuovo delle Arti and consisting mainly of the abstract artists from that association: Renato Birolli, Antonio Corpora, Ennio Morlotti, Giuseppe Santomaso, Giulio Turcato and Emilio Vedova.
 They debut as a group at the XXVIth Venice Biennale.
Winning the Premio Dufy the previous year enables him to spend a period in Paris where significant visits include the Musée de l'Homme and the Cabinet des Dessins at the Louvre.
In 1953 Begins the ciclo della Protesta ’53 and the ciclo della Natura ’53 series of great canvases, spemding a few weeks in Palmaria, one of the island in the La Spezia archipelago.
In the same year, the director Catone Ramello involved Vedova in his documentary film, Un pittore della realtà - Emilio Vedova.
